Stump Grinding & Removal
Get rid of hazardous or unsightly tree stumps
Old tree stumps can be an eye sore, but they can also attract pests, create tripping hazards, or interfere with lawn care. B&B Trees LLC offers professional stump grinding and removal to help you reclaim your space, while using care to avoid damage to nearby landscaping. You may be curious about stump removal after hiring us to remove an unwanted tree, or if the stump was left from previous work or a downed tree after high winds. We're always happy to give an estimate for you to think on.
Why remove a tree stump:
Improve the appearance of your yard
Prevent pests like ants and beetles from nesting
Free up space for landscaping or new patio areas
Stop unwanted sprouting from the old tree
Prevent tripping hazards or damage to lawn care equipment
Our stump grinding / stump removal process:
One of the standard stump grinding services digs down to 4-6" below grade, and the wood shavings are then used to fill the gap that's left behind. Your goals for the space might require us to dig deeper or trace large roots to remove, like if you want to replant the area or install a fence. Sometimes we'll instead use a combination of digging and rope pulling to remove the stump instead, depending on the size or species of tree that it was. Let us know your goals and concerns, and we'll make sure to leave the space ready for whatever you have planned next!
Schedule a consult for your free estimate
You can use our contact form or call/text (206) 750-5085 to schedule a free consult, which typically takes 10-15 minutes. We'll discuss your goals and concerns, and will then email your estimate. You can also ask to see our business license, insurance, and bond information!
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to remove a stump right away?
No, you can remove a stump any time after a tree or shrub removal. As long as it's not creating a hazard in your walking path or attracting pests, we're happy to come back at a later time to take care of the stump!
Will a stump naturally disappear over time, or do I have to actually remove it?
A stump will decay eventually, yes, but they take longer than most people would like. Hiring a stump grinding service allows you to instantly reclaim the space instead of waiting for years. However plenty of people want to let it decay naturally, whether that's to save money or to let the decaying wood fertilize the ground. If you don't want a stump removal option, we're happy to discuss ways to speed up the decay or how to make sure the stump doesn't cause a pest problem!
I have an old, soggy stump that's already decomposing. What can I do?
We're happy to come look at your specific stump and discuss your options! Some might still be intact enough that a stump grinder will work, but if it's already decayed beyond the grinder's capability we can talk about digging or pulling it out in sections.
